New Patients

Welcome to Piedmont Eye Surgical & Laser Center

If you’re visiting us for the first time, welcome! At Piedmont Eye Surgical & Laser Center, we’re honored to serve patients in Greensboro, Thomasville, and the surrounding Piedmont Triad. This page will guide you through what to expect as a new patient and how to prepare for your initial visit.

Your First Consultation
Important Reminder:
If you wear contact lenses, please remove them at least two weeks prior to your appointment. This allows for the most accurate measurements and ensures the best possible results from your eye evaluation or procedure.

Your first consultation is the important first step toward clear, healthy vision. Our ophthalmologists take the time to provide every patient with a personalized and comprehensive evaluation.

Because your initial visit is so thorough, please allow up to three hours for testing and review. This ensures we can make the most accurate diagnosis and create the right treatment plan for your needs.

What to Expect at Your Visit
1. Medical History & Forms

You’ll begin by completing your medical history forms. To save time, you can download and fill these out before your visit, but it’s not required. Please be prepared to share:

  • Current medications

  • Allergies

  • General medical history

2. Vision Screening & Measurements

Next, our vision technicians will conduct a complete screening, which may include:

  • Visual acuity testing

  • Confrontation visual fields

  • Extraocular movement checks

Additional diagnostic tests may include:

  • Pupillary tests

  • Retinoscopy

  • Cover test

  • Tonometry (eye pressure test)

  • Slit lamp examination

3. Doctor Review & Treatment Plan

Once your results are collected, your ophthalmologist will carefully review them and explain your options. This may include scheduling surgery, prescribing medication, or recommending follow-up testing.

Your Patient Experience

We are committed to treating every patient with the respect, kindness, and professionalism we would expect for our own families. Our goal is to make your experience comfortable, clear, and confidence-building.

Patients throughout the Greensboro and Thomasville areas choose us for cataract surgery, glaucoma care, and presbyopia treatment because we deliver both expertise and compassion.
